Designed by:
Gaoxiang Ye
Date:
23/05/26 at Blablalab — Baltan Laboratories
Components / Materials:
Plastic food container, Aluminium foil, tape.
Necessary Tools:
Box Cutter.
Estimated Time:
20 minutes.
Imagined Context:
Concealed in a small bag, carried to public places, lightweight and discreet.
Intention:
Inspired by the rise of Apple Airdrop to broadcast politically subversive messages, this device does that with an open-source solution. It broadcasts via WiFi SSIDs and captive network portals.
Process:
Cutouts are made in the container to accommodate the router. The lid is covered with aluminium foil to amplify signals. The container, lid, and antennas are held together with glue.
Problems Encountered:
Didn't manage to deploy the code to the router, due to the router configuration issues.
How Easily Reproducible is It?:
A lot.
