Name:
Signal Enhancer
Designed by:

Components / Materials:
Copper wire, Metal Wire, Copper tape, Aluminium tape, Aluminium foil, Wood piece, Directionable metal hanger, Metal Connector
Necessary Tools:
Plastic strings, Double-sided tape, Screws, Screwdriver, Drill
Estimated Time:
2 Hours.
Imagined Context:
An attempt in creating a directional antenna starting from an ordinary Wi-Fi router, for reaching longer mesh distances at low costs. Meant to be easily hangable and thought to be placed outdoors.
Intention:
An attempt of creating a functional directional antenna by following DIY guides.
Process:
From the router I detached the small antennae and with the copper wire I connected them with each other. With metal wire I created a skeleton for the antenna shape and attached it to the router. With copper tape I connected the antenna skeleton to the smaller antennas and placed one small antenna at the center of the structure. I started wrapping aluminium foil and fixed it with aluminium tape. Finally I created a small shape made with copper wire according to the followed guide in order to finalize the antenna. I placed the router on a piece of wood and fixed it with plastic strings and double-sided tape. The design was finalized once a directionable hanger was connected to the device so that the antenna could be directed and hanged easily.
Problems Encountered:
It was difficult to fix the antenna to the structure and the device is not water resistant yet.
How Easily Reproducible:
Very Reproducible
